The political landscape of Ghana is once again abuzz with discussions surrounding the return of Baba Jamal to Parliament. Whereas Baba Jamal scored about 63% of the total valid vote cast, his closest competitor Baba Ali Yussif of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), polled 4,000 votes, accounting for 23.45%. The three other candidates in the race collectively secured 2,254 votes (13.26%), while 122 ballots were rejected.
The bye election came about as a result of demise of the MP Mahama Naser Toure, in January 2026.
Until his election as MP, Baba Jamal was Ghana’s Hogh Commissioner to Nigeria.
