The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with twenty-five (25) Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to strengthen collaboration in the production and use of official statistics in Ghana.

The agreement, signed during a one-day ceremony held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra, marks an important step toward strengthening coordination within Ghana’s National Statistical System and improving the use of administrative data to support national development.

The collaboration will focus on strengthening administrative data systems, improving data sharing across institutions, promoting adherence to national statistical standards, and enhancing the capacity of MDAs to produce and use quality data for planning, monitoring, and evaluation.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed with key public institutions including the Office of the President (Jubilee House), Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industries, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, and Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources, alongside several, Departments and Agencies such as the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Health Service, Environmental Protection Authority, National Communications Authority, and the National Information Technology Agency, among others.

Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Julius Debrah, Chief of staff, emphasised the importance of coordinated data systems in strengthening governance and supporting national development. He said, “We are gathered here today not merely to sign documents, but to strengthen the foundations of evidence-based governance in Ghana. Today’s Joint Signing Ceremony between the Ghana Statistical Service and twenty-five Ministries, Departments, and Agencies represents an important step toward building a more coordinated, more transparent, and more data-driven public sector”.
