Heavy flooding has severely impacted parts of Ketu North, rendering hundreds homeless, destruction of property, and extensive damage to farmland. The situation was confirmed through a holding statement issued by the Member of Parliament for the area, Eric Edem Agbana.
In a recent Facebook post, MP Agbana revealed that he and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) have spent the past two days visiting flood-affected communities across the constituency. Tragically, the flooding has claimed two lives and caused widespread destruction, with many hectares of farmland completely submerged, threatening the livelihoods of local farmers.
The MP emphasized that efforts are underway to manage the crisis, with close collaboration among relevant agencies and stakeholders. He expressed gratitude to the Volta Regional Minister and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for their swift response and support during this challenging period.
While a comprehensive update on the situation and the measures being taken will be issued in due course, MP Agbana assured residents that all necessary steps are being taken to bring relief and address the ongoing challenges posed by the flood.
Residents and stakeholders are urged to remain vigilant and await further official communication as authorities work to restore normalcy in the affected communities.
The situation in Ketu North underscores the urgent need for ongoing disaster preparedness and climate resilience efforts in the region.
