The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, received the Letters of Credence of seven High Commissioners and Ambassadors-designate representing Malta, Russian, Poland, Indonesia, Panama, Armenia and Tanzania on 15th June, 2026.
The ceremony signified the official accreditation of these diplomats, conferring upon them the legal authority to act on behalf of their respective countries. The event underscores the enduring diplomatic relations between Ghana and these countries, reinforcing the goodwill that underpins these bilateral ties. The envoys were:
• His Excellency Ronald Micallef – High Commissioner of Malta
• His Excellency Andrei Ordash – Ambassador of the Russian Federation
• His Excellency Michal Cygan –
Ambassador of the Republic of Poland
• His Excellency Bambang Suharto – Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia
• Her Excellency Isbeth Lisbeth Quiel Murcia – Ambassador of the Republic of Panama
• His Excellency Armen Sargsyan – Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia
• His Excellency Selestine Gervas Kakele – High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania.
President Mahama warmly welcomed the envoys, emphasizing Ghana’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across various sectors, including trade and investment, agriculture and agro-processing, education, energy, technology, infrastructure, tourism, skills development, and industrialization. He highlighted Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy initiative and its membership in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as critical elements for fostering shared growth and prosperity and encouraged them to take advantage of Ghana’s strategic position as a gateway to the African market.
He noted that, despite differences in geography, culture and levels of development, Ghana and their respective countries remained united by shared aspirations for peace, prosperity and international cooperation.
President Mahama also underscored the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing contemporary global challenges such as climate change, terrorism, food insecurity, irregular migration, and economic uncertainty. He reaffirmed Ghana’s dedication to international peace, security, and sustainable development, signaling a collaborative posture towards global governance and collective problem-solving.
The envoys reciprocated with appreciation for the reception, reaffirming their commitment to working closely with the Government of Ghana to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
