Members of the Committee on Public Administration and State Interest further deepened their understanding of State Interest Institutions (SIIs) during a focused capacity-building workshop on managing state interest institutions: Performance, accountability and the role of parliamentary oversight.
For his part, Professor Michael Kpessa-Whyte, Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), examined how Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), performance contracts, and corporate governance frameworks serve as essential tools for tracking service delivery, financial health, and operational efficiency within SIIs.
Moderated by Lawrence Agyinsam and Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, discussions centred on the critical role of parliamentary committees in providing effective oversight of SIIs while maintaining the balance between institutional accountability and operational independence.
The workshop also underscored the importance of Ethics and strategic communication in building public trust and ensuring that State Interest Institutions deliver effectively on their mandates.
