Following the road traffic accident involving a school bus and a tipper truck on the Dzorwulu-Accra Mall stretch on Thursday, 30th July 2026, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, visited some of the injured school children receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.
Speaking during the visit, the Minister described the incident as heartbreaking and expressed her deepest sympathy to the affected children and their families.
As the Minister responsible for children’s welfare, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey assured the families of Government’s commitment and support, especially that of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, in the full recovery processes of the children.
The Minister further comforted the parents & families that they would not be burdened with cost of the children’s medical treatment, allowing them to concentrate on providing the emotional care and support their children need.
The Minister also expressed profound appreciation to the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ghana Police Service, other security agencies, emergency responders, and the good Samaritans who assisted in rescuing the children and ensuring they received prompt medical attention.
She commended the management and medical staff of the 37 Military Hospital for their swift response and dedication to the treatment of the injured children.
The Minister indicated that while the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, she is confident that appropriate authorities will establish the facts and ensure accountability where necessary.
Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey is expected to continue her visits to the remaining injured children receiving treatment at the other health facilities to offer Government’s support and monitor their recovery.
The Minister was accompanied on the visit by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Dr. Marian W. A. Kpakpah and the Social Protection Director, Madam Francisca Atuluk.
