Hundreds of residents of Agbozume and surrounding communities on Saturday, September 19, 2026, took part in a Mega Health Walk organized by the Somè Traditional Council as part of activities heralding this year’s Somĕtutuza.

The walk, which began at 5:30 a.m. from the Agbozume Lorry Park, saw participants walk through Agbozume to Nogokpo and back to Klikor towns to finally converged at the Somè National School Park.

The event attracted men, women, the youth and children, clad in sportswear, who walked several kilometres in a show of unity and fitness.

According to the organizers, the health walk is to promote healthy living, unity and community spirit ahead of the main festival, which is the biggest annual celebration of the people of Somè.

Pictures from the event show a massive turnout with participants in high spirits along the route.

As part of side attractions, participants were provided with water and drinks, and a free health screening exercise was conducted at the end point at the Somè National School Park, as seen in one of the inset pictures.

The Sometutuza festival is celebrated annually to commemorate the exodus and bravery of the Somè people and to foster development and togetherness.

The Somè Traditional Council expressed appreciation to all residents who participated and called on all sons and daughters of Somè, both home and abroad, to take part in activities lined up for this year’s celebration.
