A new technology-enabled platform designed to connect the public with independent waste collection and utility service providers, BorlaPlus, is set to officially launch online on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Founded by Laureate Nhyira-Amissah, BorlaPlus is introducing a digital marketplace that allows households, businesses and institutions to request waste collection services and connect with verified independent drivers.
The waste collection service is currently available in Accra, Tema, Ashaiman and their environs, with plans to extend the service to other parts of Ghana in the coming weeks.
Connecting Customers and Independent Drivers
Unlike conventional waste collection operators, BorlaPlus does not own waste trucks or employ the drivers who provide services through the platform.
Instead, it provides the technology that connects customers with independent drivers. Drivers are able to use the platform to access customer requests and set their own service prices, giving them independence over how they operate.
The platform is designed to be accessible to both customers and drivers across Ghana, allowing it to function as a digital marketplace rather than a company-owned waste collection fleet.
Through location-based matching, service notifications and real-time tracking, customers can request and monitor waste collection services through the platform.
More Services Ahead
Although waste collection is the service currently operational, BorlaPlus has been developed to support other services including material haulage, towing and utility deliveries.
The platform’s long-term vision is to become a digital connection point between the public and independent providers of essential waste, logistics and utility services across Ghana.
