The University of Business and Integrated Development Studies has appealed for increased government funding, improved infrastructure, adequate staffing and the resolution of outstanding administrative and land compensation issues to support its growth and improve medical education.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof Emmanuel Deribile Kankyibe made the appeal when the Select Committee on Education paid a monitoring visit to the University. He highlighted key challenges confronting the institution, including limited financial support, delays in completing infrastructure projects, staff shortages among others
Further, the Vice Chancellor called for the establishment of clear minimum investment standards, backed by government policy and legislation, to ensure adequate and sustainable financial support.
He acknowledged the contribution of development partners but urged them to include the institution in relevant funding packages, noting that its relatively new status required additional resources to strengthen its operations and development.
