Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor has been appointed as the new Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno. DCOP Donkor’s appointment is part of a wider restructuring within the police force aimed at improving operational efficiency. Prior to her new role, DCOP Donkor was the Safety and Security Head at the Ghana Football Association (GFA). In this position, she made significant contributions to enhancing football security both in Ghana and across Africa. She chaired the GFA’s Safety & Security Committee, overseeing stringent security measures for local and international football events.

In addition to her role with the GFA, she has served as a Safety and Security Officer for the Confederation of African Football (CAF), where she was responsible for ensuring the safety of major continental tournaments.

DCOP Donkor is also the CEO of Police Ladies FC, a top club in the Ghana Women’s Premier League. Under her leadership, the club has grown into a strong contender, further highlighting her diverse leadership skills.

As part of the broader restructuring, other significant appointments were made, including DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwa Addo-Danquah as the Director-General for Research and Planning, and Commissioner of Police (COP) Paul Manly Awini, who will now head the Service Workshop in Accra.
