President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to observe Eid-ul-Fitr in a peaceful and secure manner, emphasizing the importance of caution during the festivities. He also called on law enforcement agencies to address reckless driving and unsafe motorcycle riding among the youth to help prevent accidents.

Speaking at the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration at Black Star Square, President Mahama noted that Ramadan extends beyond fasting—it is also a time for self-discipline, reflection, and showing compassion to others.

He encouraged Christians to take part in acts of charity during this period, pointing out that while Zakat (charitable giving) is a key pillar of Islam, generosity and kindness are values that transcend religious boundaries.

Addressing ongoing tensions in Bawku, the President appealed for peace, urging residents to put aside their differences and foster unity.

“As we celebrate this sacred occasion, I urge my brothers and sisters in Bawku to embrace peace and harmony,” he stated.

He further encouraged Muslims to use the Ramadan season as a time for reconciliation, urging individuals to mend broken relationships and seek unity.

“If you have unresolved differences with someone, take the opportunity after Sallah to visit them and restore peace,” he advised.

Meanwhile, the government has officially declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays in recognition of the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
