A communiqué from the MCE office to the media on the flooded Road situation between Kporkuve and Agordeke said, “I empathize deeply with the people of Kporkuve, Agordeke, and surrounding areas”, acknowledging the fact that “the current situation is understandably difficult and your concerns are valid.

He assured them of his commitment to working closely with the MP for the area to ensure a lasting solution is provided.

According to Rev. Martin Amenaki, the attention of the Municipal Assembly was drawn to the distressing condition of the road linking Kporkuve and Agordeke, situation has occurred due to recent rainfall and flooding in the area.

The affected section, which often becomes impassable during the rainy season, has caused significant disruption to movement, especially for residents.

” It is worth noting that other commuters rely on this road to access nearby communities, including Afife on Aflao-Accra Highways.

Over the weekend, 14 June 2025, the MCE led a team comprising Municipal Engineers, Technical Staff, and some of Party Officials to assess the situation firsthand.

They were joined by Community Leaders, Assembly Members and Unit Committee representatives upon arrival to tour affected areas, including farms.

After a thorough technical assessment, the Engineers confirmed that the flooding and road damage are the result of a spillover from a nearby dam.

Due to the severity of the situation, the DRIP machine cannot be deployed effectively as it would sink but “Engineers have recommended that the dam be dredged and proper channels created to control the flow of water, Rev. Amenaki noted.

It is important to note that this particular road is already included in the list of roads the MP, Edem Agbana, has lobbied to be constructed under ongoing government infrastructure plans, and ” I therefore urge residents to remain calm and patient, as we continue to engage the relevant agencies for a long-term solution”.

In the interim, the Assembly is working on creating an access route to temporarily ease movement and reduce the difficulty being experienced by the communities.
