Speaking on the platform of the Coalition of Nation Builders (CNB) on Sunday, June 29, 2025, as part of a monthly Thought Leadership Series, Mr. Anyidoho did not mince his words “… I am very happy that we are re-introducing the God-factor in our nation-building process because it is very important not to leave God out of any genuine desire to move our developmental agenda on a righteous path” he said.

According to the Founder of the MILLS Institute for Transformational Leadership Development, at the birth of Ghana in 1957, God was fully visible in all our national symbols (Anthem, Flag, Motto, Coat-of-Arms and also the Pledge), and it is wrong to have a national mindset that deviates from the importance of placing God and the center of our growth process.

“We are talking about the Almighty God and not any religion per se” Koku pointed out.

“We have God in our Anthem, we have God in our Pledge, the cross is very visible in our Coat-of-Arms, so who says that God must not be very much alive in our hearts and minds”?

According to Koku Anyidoho, as a trained Theologian, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah had a very deep spiritual awakening hence his understanding of the importance of God in building the nation that’s why as our first President, he oversaw the positioning of God in all our State Symbols and his vision for Ghana and Africa was light years ahead of many.

“In is very clear in the Bible that Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of God’s Throne. So, our Freedom and Justice motto, is akin to that of the Throne of God. Except that we are more interested in the Freedom and not the Justice” he added.

As a close aide and Spokesperson to the late President John Evans Atta-Mills, Koku said he saw the late President place God firmly at the heart of the governance process hence his introduction of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving.

“It was held in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and President Mills obviously did not hide the fact that he was only a vessel of God for Ghana and we saw the positive results on the economy and so I thank God that as a nation we are going back to what we started and I believe that it will impact the nation positively”.

The Coalition of Nation Builders holds a monthly Thought Leadership Series on “Mindset Transformation: God-factor In Nation Building” and Mr. Samuel Koku Anyidoho is the Lead Voice among other Voices.

Koku Anyidoho also commended President John Mahama for re-establishing 1st July as a national public holiday.

“Our Republic Day is extremely important and we cannot just relegate it to the background; we must celebrate it with utmost joy but ensure that we use the day to entrench a nationalistic/patriotic mindset that will hold-fast our identity and values as a People ”.
