Journalists empowered to amplify Parliament’s Works as Clerk shares insights on Society building

The Clerk to Parliament Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror has appealed to Journalists to appreciate and talk about the mandated work of Parliament in helping to build a society where the people can benefit and fully exercise their democratic rights.

According to the Clerk to Parliament, the passage of the Public Order Act, Private Members’ Bill and the Private Bill by Parliament have deepened the democratic rights of the people and journalists must use their platforms to amplify and educate the public on the good works of Members of Parliament.

Mr. Djietror made these remarks during the opening ceremony at a two-day capacity building workshop for members of the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC) in Accra.

The workshop, organised by the Media Relations Department of Parliament invited renowned facilitators who took the participants through various topics.

Some of the topics were: Enhancing the image of Parliament through the media-Perspective of the Minority and Majority Caucuses by Hon. Samuel Awuku, MP Akuapem North and Hon. Frank Afriyie, MP Afadjato South respectively. The Deputy Clerk to Parliament (LMS) Mr. Camilo Pwamang also delivered a presentation on the topic, “The Rules Governing Parliamentary Business and Operations – What the Media Need to Know”.

Also present were the Deputy Clerk( IMS) Dr. Gloria Sarku Kumawu, Coordinating Director (Public Affairs Sub-Divison) Mad. Kate Addo, Directors of Departments and Dean of the PPC, Mr. Simon Agianab.
