The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) welcomed a delegation from the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network, led by its founder, Daniel Osei Tuffuor. The group met with GFZAโ€™s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mary Awusi, to discuss a potential partnership focused on empowering women and promoting female leadership across Africa.

During the meeting, the YAWC team shared details of their upcoming conference in Rwanda, scheduled for October 26โ€“30, 2025. Themed โ€œEmpower Her: Shaping the Digital Economy Through Womenโ€™s Leadership,โ€ the conference aims to bring together women leaders and change makers from across the continent. Dr. Awusi was officially invited to speak at the event, in recognition of her strong advocacy for women and her leadership in one of Ghanaโ€™s key investment institutions. She proudly noted that six out of ten directors at GFZA are women โ€“ an achievement that reflects her commitment to gender inclusion at the highest levels.

The YAWC Network also expressed interest in engaging women working within Ghanaโ€™s free zones, encouraging them to join the network to access mentorship, professional development, and leadership training. In response, Dr. Awusi and her management team expressed strong support and encouraged YAWC to develop more initiatives that promote the empowerment of women, particularly within the private sector.

This promising collaboration between GFZA and YAWC has the potential to create real impact โ€“ providing platforms for women to connect, learn, and lead. Under Dr. Awusiโ€™s guidance, GFZA continues to support efforts that build an inclusive future where women thrive in leadership, innovation, and business.
