A controversy surrounds Madam Eunice Biritwum, Acting Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, who is reportedly drawing a salary and allowances despite being on pension.
She turned 60 on October 17, 2025, and hasn’t received a contract extension.
Madam Biritwum previously served on the Energy Commission’s technical committee and as CEO of CENIT Energy, a SSNIT subsidiary, under the NPP administration. Critics argue she should vacate her position, citing the “RETIREES MUST GO” principle, according to the insiders.

The Energy Commission board and the Chief of Staff are urged to address the issue, ensuring compliance with regulations and transparency in public service appointments. Would you like to know more about the Energy Commission’s governance or the controversy?
A former staff of the Commission under condition of anonymity told this news portal that the board called her, on three occasions drew her attention to the issue, her legitimacy and audit matters since she didn’t have contract extension.
