The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has made a historic visit to the Ashaiman Tulaku Livestock Market, the largest in West Africa.

The visit underscores the government’s commitment to implementing the Livestock Development Project (LDP), focusing on boosting meat and dairy production, introducing better breeds, and establishing capacity-building centers.

During the visit, Minister Opoku donated streetlight bulbs and a mini dump waste truck to improve safety, sanitation, and hygiene at the market.

He assured traders of the government’s dedicated support to make the livestock sector more profitable and attractive, generating jobs and opportunities.

The Ashaiman Tulaku Livestock Market is a major hub for livestock trade, receiving animals from neighboring countries and operating 24/7.

Traders welcomed the visit, praising Minister Opoku as the first sector minister to tour the market since its establishment in the 1960s.
