Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has directed Chief Directors and audit heads across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure that infractions recorded in the Auditor-General’s Report are reduced to the barest minimum next year.

Addressing the officials at a recent meeting to map out a decisive plan for implementing the recommendations of the 2024 Audit Report, Dr. Forson expressed deep worry over the persistent waste and irregularities that continue to drain scarce national resources.

He cautioned that such avoidable infractions send the wrong signal about Ghana’s governance and risk undermining the peace, stability and confidence the country has worked hard to restore.

“We cannot continue to lose scarce national resources through infractions that are completely avoidable. Ghana deserves better,” he said.

The Minister reminded them that specialised courts are now in place to prosecute breaches of financial laws, underscoring government’s resolve to enforce strict accountability.

“This is a new chapter. Accountability will no longer be optional,” Dr. Forson declared, adding that discipline in public financial management is not only a requirement but “a duty we owe to every Ghanaian.”
