The delegation is in Ghana for the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme Review Visit, scheduled to take place from March 9 to March 12, 2026.

Addressing the delegation at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra on Monday, March 9, 2026, Mr. Gyamfi expressed delight at Ghana’s opportunity to host the team and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to responsible diamond governance.

He noted that Ghana was honoured to host the distinguished delegation under the leadership of the Russian Federation.

“Your presence here reflects the continued commitment of the Kimberley Process community to transparency, accountability, and the responsible governance of the international diamond trade,” he stated.

Mr. Gyamfi emphasized that Ghana, as a diamond-producing country, remains steadfast in upholding the principles and obligations of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.

“As a diamond-producing country, Ghana remains firmly committed to the principles, objectives, and requirement of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme,” he declared.

He explained that Ghana’s participation in the scheme reflects the nation’s determination to ensure that diamonds produced and exported from the country meet international standards while contributing to national development and the wellbeing of its citizens.

Mr. Gyamfi further indicated that the implementation of the KPCS in Ghana is supported by strong inter-agency collaboration involving key state institutions and industry stakeholders.

According to him, Ghana’s framework for implementing the scheme is anchored on coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the Minerals Commission, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders within the diamond value chain.

The GoldBod CEO also highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening governance and accountability within Ghana’s diamond sector.

These reforms, he said, include improvements in inspection and verification mechanisms, strengthened internal control systems, enhanced data management processes, and sustained capacity-building initiatives for technical and frontline personnel.

“Our continued oversight efforts in key producing areas, including Akwatia and surrounding communities reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and responsiveness to evolving global expectations,” he stated.

Mr. Gyamfi underscored the significance of the review visit, noting that the exercise goes beyond a routine assessment.

He described it as an important opportunity for constructive engagement, peer learning, and institutional strengthening among participating countries.

Mr. Gyamfi concluded by expressing confidence in the review team, stating that their observations and recommendations would further support Ghana in strengthening its implementation of Kimberley Process requirements.
