The Ghana Education Service (GES) has closed its recruitment application portal after more than 40,000 people applied for just 7,000 available teaching and non-teaching positions.
The Service opened the portal earlier this month to fill vacancies across basic and second-cycle institutions nationwide. The high volume of applications reflects intense competition for public sector jobs, with over five applicants vying for each available slot.
GES says the next phase of the process will involve shortlisting, validation of documents, and interviews for qualified applicants. Shortlisted candidates will be notified through official GES channels.
The Service has cautioned the public against fraudsters demanding money for postings, stressing that recruitment is free and based solely on merit.
Successful applicants are expected to be deployed to fill critical gaps in schools, particularly in underserved districts, ahead of the next academic term.
