Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to advancing gender inclusion in tourism as Abla Dzifa Gomashie participated in the 2nd UN Tourism Regional Congress on Women Empowerment in Tourism in Africa, held at Elephant Hills Hotel.
Accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of GTA, Maame Efua Houadjeto and the Director for Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts. Dr. Geoffrey Tamakloe, the Minister engaged stakeholders and highlighted Ghana’s efforts to promote women’s leadership and participation across the tourism value chain.
The Congress, officially opened by the First Lady of Zumba, H.E Auxilia Mnangagwa, emphasized the need for bold action to remove barriers limiting women’s advancement, while other speakers called for stronger mentorship and access to opportunities.
Ghana’s participation aligns with its broader commitment to leveraging tourism for inclusive growth, job creation, and cultural preservation. The Congress is expected to drive partnerships and actionable commitments to strengthen women’s leadership in Africa’s tourism sector.
