The Member of Parliament for Wa East and Chairman of the Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, will lead colleagues’ MPs to Ho for this year’s 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration.

The event, scheduled for December 5th, 2025, at the Ho Sports Stadium in the Volta Region, underscores Ghana’s growing momentum in the agricultural sector, bolstered by the Feed Ghana Programme.

In the other hand, Hundreds of government officials will join the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, in Ho, to celebrate the nation’s farmers and their vital contributions to socio-economic development and food security. The Sector Minister announced the event on his Facebook wall, emphasizing its significance.

This year’s celebration is particularly notable as it highlights the impact of the Feed Ghana Programme—an ambitious strategic initiative aimed at leveraging agriculture as a key driver of economic transformation, increased food production, and sustainable food security across Ghana. The program, launched just weeks ago, focuses on boosting food output, value addition, and sustainable farming practices to position Ghana as a major player in West Africa’s agricultural landscape.

Commentators and economic analysts see this focus on agriculture as vital for diversifying Ghana’s economy, reducing reliance on imports, and creating opportunities for smallholder farmers. The participation of Dr. Jasaw and his parliamentary colleagues underscores the government’s commitment to integrating legislative support with agricultural development efforts to stimulate rural economic activity and uplift farmers.

As Ghana advances its developmental agenda, the focus on agriculture as a catalyst for economic growth is expected to deliver long-term benefits, including poverty alleviation, improved nutrition, and increased exports. The participation of parliamentary leaders like Dr. Jasaw exemplifies the government’s resolve to prioritize agriculture in the nation’s broader economic transformation.
