The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry,  Sampson Ahi, has inaugurated a National Planning Committee to spearhead Ghana’s preparation and participation in the Specialized World Expo 2027, scheduled to take place in Belgrade, Serbia.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, marks the beginning of Ghana’s roadmap towards showcasing its innovation, creativity, and cultural heritage on a global stage.
The Inter-Ministerial Committee will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all activities leading up to the event, which will be held in May 2027.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Ahi urged the committee members to work collaboratively and bring their diverse expertise to bear in ensuring Ghana’s effective participation.
He emphasized that the country’s presence at the Expo should serve as a platform to attract investment, boost trade, and promote tourism.
“Ghana’s participation in Expo 2027 must reflect the nation’s creativity, resilience, and capacity for innovation.
I encourage the committee to ensure our showcase attracts investment and tells the world the story of a progressive and dynamic Ghana,” He stated.
Under the national theme “Playful Ghana: Creativity, Connection, and Cultural Power,” Ghana’s pavilion, titled “The Ghana Pulse: Rhythm of Progress,” will highlight how music, sports, storytelling, and innovation contribute to national identity, unity, and inclusive growth.
The Expo’s overarching theme, “Play for Humanity – Sport and Music for All,” aligns with Ghana’s commitment to using culture and creativity as tools for sustainable development and youth empowerment.
The pavilion will feature interactive exhibits such as traditional games like Ampe and Pilolo, live performances of Ghanaian drumming and dance, and demonstrations of indigenous instruments including the kora and fontomfrom.
It will also showcase innovative entrepreneurship in music-tech, agritech, and fashion under initiatives such as the Business Program and Education Program.
Ghana’s participation aims to position the country as a creative and inclusive society leveraging culture and innovation for growth,
1. Foster international partnerships in education, trade, tourism, and technology.
2. Inspire youth involvement in nation-building through creativity and entrepreneurship.
3. Contribute to the Expo’s legacy by demonstrating how play can drive unity and sustainable development.
Ghana’s participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade follows the country’s successful engagements in previous global expositions, including Expo 2020 Dubai and the Expo 2025 Osaka, reinforcing its reputation as a vibrant hub for creativity, culture, and innovation.
