The Minister for the Interior Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has assured Parliament that significant progress is being made in addressing key security concerns across the country.
In responding to questions on the floor of the House, he revealed that several suspects linked to the November 2024 Adabraka gold shop robbery have been arrested, adding that the case remains before the courts and has been adjourned to April 8, 2026.
In tackling the land guard activities in the Ga South Municipality and the Accra-Tema area, he indicated that the Police Service has established Anti-Land Guard Units, intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations, and strengthened enforcement of the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036).
The Minister also announced plans to establish a police station in the Amansie Central District, alongside the deployment of additional personnel and logistics to improve security.
“Three newly constructed police stations at Numereso, Apitiso, and Tweapease are awaiting commissioning and are expected to boost security and help address crime and mining-related conflicts in the district” he stated.
