The Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, has reaffirmed Government’s commitment to strengthen bilateral relations between Ghana and China while exploring opportunities for further collaboration in road infrastructure development.
He made this known when a joint delegation from the Jiangxi Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (Jiangxi Provincial SASAC) and China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation Company Ltd. paid a courtesy call on him to discuss existing relations and prospects for future partnerships with the Ministry.

Hon. Agbodza underscored government’s commitment to maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries. “President Mahama has arguably made the largest scale of infrastructure investment within the road sector under the Big Push Programme and Chinese companies are participating significantly. The relationship between Ghana and China is very important to us and we promise to do what we can to sustain it,” he said.

He noted that cooperation with international institutions and development partners remains important in mobilising investment, technical expertise and other resources to support the country’s road infrastructure priorities.
The delegation was led by Mr. Xiao Yun, Director-General of Jiangxi Provincial SASAC, together with Mr. Xu Zhenghua, Vice President of CJIC.
