Barely one year into office as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Juaboso District in the Western North Region (WNR), Alexander Adu Quist has brought about massive development in the District to the admiration and applause to both his admires and foes.

These developments are so visible and palpable that any visitor to the district, especially the capital Juaboso can see and visualize it.“We now have a DCE’’, declared Apostle Gershion Gbedemah, founder and Leader of Havilah City of Prayer International Ministry at Juaboso.

Following these declaration, the authoritative “FMnewsonline.com” approached the DCE for observation last week.

And through to the Apostle’s declaration the results were tremendous.

The affable and hardworking DCE, whose office is always inundated with people till late evening and sometimes late into the night, spelled out executed and on-growing and projected project off hand.

These cut across all sectors including Education, Water and Sanitation Health, Employments and many more.

DISCIPLE OF AKANDOH

Honorable Alexander Adu Quist intimated that he has been a great disciple and follower of the hardworking Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaboso, Honorable Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, who also doubles as the minister of Health for quite a long time.

As a result he has travelled with him to all the communities in the constituency and for that matter, is very much aware of the Basic needs of the people.

Subsequently, when he was made DCE for the area, he prayed to God to strengthen him to enable him serve the people to the very best of his ability.

Fortunately for him, the President, John Dramani Mahama has been releasing the District Assembly Common Fund timorously.

He stated that this Fund goes with its own guidelines. So in his avowed determination to serve the people, he abides strictly by these guidelines in the application of the Fund.

As such he has tried to serve the all sectors equitably.“The work is ongoing.

We have not achieved our ultimate goal, but we are trying our very best”, the soft spoken and unassuming DCE pointed out.

EDUCATION

Touching on Education, Honorable Adu Quist stated that in his short term office, his administration has been able to come near completion of six classroom blocks as well as three legacy projects consisting of six unit classroom blocks, office and stores, changing rooms for the people of Eteso, Benchema, Sayirano, Domeabra and Dominibo.

HEALTH

The DCE indicated that at least six CHIP Compounds for the people of Adwumam and Fantraline are ongoing and near completion.

SANITATION AND ILLEGAL MINING

Honorable Adu Quist stated that when we assumed office barely a year ago people were doing illegal and indiscriminate mining along the banks of rivers Benzemata and Wuhue.

These activities, in noted had diverted the course of these rivers.

However, with the assistance of the security agent, his administration has been able to stop these illegal activities and the rivers now have smooth flow.

In sanitation, the DCE said his administration has provided each store with one dustbin in concert with the policy of operation Clean Your Frontage.

Also there is one each dustbin for every principal street, while clearing off, all on authorized dumping grounds, that’s making the town neat.

He indicated that in this regard, his administration has bought three tricycles to convey rubbish to the approved dumping grounds on daily basis.

Also the assembly has hired 28 permanent staff to sweep the Juaboso Township on daily basis as the contract with the zoom lion is not meeting the required needs of the town.

Besides, there is a cleanup exercise on monthly basis to keep the Capital clean.

He was quick to point out that there is a challenge here but once he is in office, the challenge is not unsumontable.

REVENUE MOBILIZATION

Honorable Adu Quist recollected that he came to lead a very horrible state of revenue at the assembly especially by way of Internally Generated Fund (IGF).

However through hardworking and determination, his administration has brought in a number of interventions to arrest the situation.

MOTIVATION

In this regard, his administration has hired 12 permanent staff to do the collection of revenue with the motivational awards of 30% to the revenue collectors.

Through this, the DCE stated that the assembly was able to increase its revenue by 116% in 2025.

This, he said, is the first in the history of the assembly.

The DCE stated further that any electoral area that exceeds this revenue target is given a preference project of its choice.

He maintained that Bonsu Nkwanta came first in the first application, and has been given a Weighing Center.

He maintained further that in the second application Proso Kofikrom won, and was given expansion of their market.

The DCE indicated that these projects were financed with the IGF from the assembly So as to defuse the notion “they only collect our money just to chop”.

EMPLOYMENT

Honorable Adu Quist indicated that through the MP’s intervention over 132 people have gotten permanent employment in all sectors and agencies in the assembly.

Also, 72 recruits have been registered, while 50 artisans have been registered to learn various trades.

Their allowances and those of their training masters have all been cratered for by the assembly.“We hope to exceed this target.

We are building a new status for the Assembly, governments and the constituency” Honorable Quist Stressed.
