The Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called on the Ghana Medical Association to support government’s renewed health sector reforms aimed at addressing long-standing inequalities in healthcare delivery.
Addressing the Association at its 67th Annual Conference held under the theme: Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) for sustainable healthcare delivery”He stressed that initiatives such as the decentralised posting of doctors, the Free Primary Health Care policy, and the newly established Ghana Medical Trust Fund are designed to ensure that quality care reaches underserved communities across the country.
Hon. Akandoh further urged the GMA to play a central role in strengthening public–private collaboration, noting government’s plan to open selected Agenda 111 facilities and key service areas, including diagnostics and primary care to strategic partnerships.
The Minister emphasised that the success of these reforms depends on strong professional cooperation, adding that government views the GMA as an indispensable partner in building a fair, people-centred, and sustainable healthcare system.
