The Board Chairman of the Energy Commission, Professor John Gartchie Gatsi, swore in members of the Electricity and Natural Gas Technical Committee on 6 October 2026.
The Committee was set up under Sections 28 and 29 of the Energy Commission Act, 1997 (Act 541) to oversee technical and operational rules for the electricity and natural gas sectors. Professor Gatsi said its work would be critical to keeping Ghana’s energy sector resilient, competitive and responsive to emerging challenges.

The Executive Secretary, Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie, said the Committee will review Performance Improvement Projects with ECG and NEDCo this month.
In November 2026, it will facilitate the signing of agreements that set 2027 performance benchmarks to hold utilities accountable. She also challenged the Committee to make sure regulation keeps pace with technologies such as electric vehicles, battery storage and renewable energy.
The Committee is made up of representatives from key institutions across the energy sector. Its members are Ing. Jacquiline Ofori-Atta, Mrs. Anna-Pearl Siriboe, Esq., Ing. Stephen Jomo, Mr. Hamis Ussif, Ing. Noble Dormenu, Ing. Frank Otchere, Ing. Abdul Noor Wahab, Prof. Ing. David Ato Quansah, Ing. Andrew Barfour, Ing. Emmanuel Osafo, Dr. Nii Darko Asante and Dr. Emmanuel Lartey,.
