The contest for the Greater Accra Regional Secretary position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is heating up, with aspirant Nii Okai Laryea, popularly known as Shiatse, picking Number 1 on the ballot.
Mr. Laryea has launched his campaign on a three-point message of Experience, Commitment, and Results, telling delegates that leadership is not just about occupying a position but about delivering results, building trust and strengthening the party.

In a campaign message released to delegates, the aspirant said the Regional Secretary’s office demands a sound understanding of party structures, administration and grassroots organization, which he possesses.
He is presenting delegates with eight key leadership priorities he intends to deliver if elected.
According to his team, these are:
1. Experience that matters – to effectively manage party administration.
2. Commitment to party unity – to bring all constituencies together.
3. Strong grassroots connection – to keep branches, wards and constituencies active.
4. Results-oriented leadership- focused on clear priorities and accountability.
5. Effective communication – ensuring timely information flow between regional and constituency structures.
6. Accessibility and humility – to be approachable and responsive to ordinary members.
7. Discipline and organisational strength – to improve planning, record-keeping and implementation of party decisions.
8. A vision for a stronger Greater Accra NDC – to strengthen structures and support long-term growth.
Mr. Laryea is challenging delegates to look beyond who wants the position, to who is prepared to meet its responsibilities.
His campaign slogan is “A Stronger Secretariat, A More United Party, A Better-Organised Greater Accra NDC.”
The Greater Accra Regional Executive elections is expected to be keenly contested as the party prepares to strengthen its base in the region ahead of the 2028 general elections.
