President John Dramani Mahama has nominated two new Ministers of State and reassigned two others in a minor cabinet reshuffle announced on Friday, August 7, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Presidency, President Mahama submitted the names to Parliament through the Speaker for prior approval in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
The President has nominated:
Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, MP – Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology and Mahama Ayariga, MP – Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs
Both nominees are Members of Parliament and will undergo vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee before assuming office.
The President has also reassigned two sitting Ministers to new portfolios:
Kenneth Gilbert Adjei – Ministry of Defense, Ahmed Ibrahim, MP – Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources
The reshuffle is expected to realign government operations ahead of key policy rollouts in environment, local governance, defense, and infrastructure.
