The consistent support in the area of Sports by the Member of Parliament for Sene West Kwame Ampofo Twumasi has seen a number of the constituents playing for the national, Premier, and Division teams in the Country.
In 2005, 21 years ago, Hon Ampofo organized his maiden mega football tournament in the District, which was then Sene District.
The biggest football event of its kind in the area, which features a number of players, boosted the love for football for the people.
Since 2005 to date, Hon Kwame Ampofo has helped individual players and football teams across the Constituency annually with jerseys, footballs, and financial support.
A key beneficiary team is Sene Hot Spurs, Lemu Christmas Galla, and other events.
In December 2024, the lawmaker organised an inter zonal football gala in honour of the National chairman for Accra Hearts of Oak, Mr Yusiff Abudulai, to appreciate his effort by raising the image of the constituency.
Apart from the participatory teams receiving jerseys, the winner team of the tournament received Ghs 2,000.00, a trophy, football, and jerseys.
Meanwhile, the second team was also awarded, ghs 1,500.00, football, and a jersey. The third and fourth teams alao received ghs 1,000.00, football, and a set of jerseys, ghs 500.00, a set of jerseys and football respectively.
Speaking at the grand final of the honouraly tournament, the MP called on his people to use football to unit themselves and take opportunities.
According to the MP, football players, if taking their serious and given opportunities, can make money and impact the life of other, the communities they come from, and the country as a whole.
He mentioned the likes of Stephen Appiah, Sule Muntare, Kudus Mohammed, and the rest have all contributed to the development of the country and their communities.
Currently, Sene West has produced both national and local players in the country. The captain of the under 17 national Team Narbi Joseph is From Sene West.
