The Presidency has announced a major reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat*, with immediate appointments and reassignments approved by President John Mahama.
In a statement dated Tuesday, August 11, 2026 and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, the President approved new leadership changes aimed at strengthening the Secretariat’s operations.
According to the release, the following appointments and reassignments take immediate effect:
Major (Rtd.) General William Ayamdo, former Chief of Army Staff, is appointedvDeputy National Security Coordinator (Operations).
Yaw Donkor, former National Security Coordinator, is appointed Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.
Adamu Saaka is appointed Director of Logistics and Transport.
Faustina Effah-Boadi is appointed Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department.
DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri is appointed Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.
ACP Alhassan Osman has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment.
The shake-up comes as part of government efforts to retool and strengthen coordination within Ghana’s national security architecture.
The statement said the new appointments are expected to enhance operational efficiency, intelligence gathering, logistics management, and human security at the Secretariat.
