The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, has appealed to the Municipal Chief Executive of Wenchi, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, to allocate land for the construction of a befitting office for the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) Sector Command.

He explained that the current office accommodating GIS officers in Wenchi is inadequate in size, given the number of personnel, and is also in a deplorable condition, underscoring the urgent need for a larger facility.

He made the appeal during a courtesy call on the MCE as part of the second day of his working tour of the Bono Region.

The CGI emphasized that the tour was designed to enable him engage directly with officers, understand the challenges affecting their operations, and move beyond reliance on daily reports.

He expressed gratitude to the MCE for her continued cooperation and support, and sought her blessings as he toured her jurisdiction.

Hon. Gyamfi commended the dedication and professionalism of GIS officers, particularly their consistent collaboration with her office on matters of peace and security.

She praised their readiness to assist at all times and assured Mr. Amadu that the Municipal Assembly would provide a suitable location for the construction of the new office.

She also wished the Comptroller-General a successful tour of the region.

The second day of the tour also took CGI Amadu to the Tainso, Nsawkaw, Banda, and Wenchi Sector Commands, where he interacted with officers and assessed their operational challenges.

In his engagements, Mr. Amadu outlined his vision for the Service, proposing the strengthening of welfare systems, the introduction of mutual health insurance coverage, access to loan and credit schemes, and the enhancement of the provident fund structures.

He stressed that these initiatives are aimed at boosting morale, ensuring financial security, and improving the overall well-being of GIS personnel, thereby enabling them to deliver more effectively on their mandate of safeguarding Ghana’s borders.

The CGI was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCOI) Maud Anima Quainoo, Head- Public Affairs Department, DCOI Eric Quartey, Bono Regional Commander, and Chief Staff Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration, Gordon Saah
