Second Meeting of Second Session of 9th Parliament set for 10am at Parliament House
Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has summoned Members of Parliament back from recess, with the House set to reconvene on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
In a formal notice dated today, May 4, and issued from the Office of the Speaker, Bagbin invoked Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament to announce the resumption.
“Pursuant to Order 58 of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana, I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic shall commence on Thursday, the 21st day of May, 2026 at ten o’clock in the forenoon at Parliament House, Accra,” the notice read.
While the notice did not list specific business, MPs are expected to return to consider pending bills, ministerial vetting, budget performance reports, and key government programmes.
The Second Meeting comes after weeks of recess following the First Meeting of the Second Session.
It also follows recent developments including the Bank of Ghana’s 2025 financials, ongoing EOCO probes, and new price floor directives from the NPA — all likely to feature in parliamentary debate.
The recall sets the stage for a busy legislative period ahead of the mid-year budget review expected in July.
The notice, referenced OP/SPKR/L/1295, was signed by Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
