The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of ongoing “Big Push” infrastructure projects in Ghana’s Upper West and Upper East Regions following an inspection tour on Tuesday.

During the visit, the Minister assessed several key road and bridge projects aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activity across the two regions. While commending contractors for the general pace of work, he urged those falling behind schedule to accelerate efforts to meet agreed timelines.

Projects inspected during the tour included the upgrading of the Tumu–Han–Lawra Road, Tumu–Sissili–Navrongo Road, and Tumu–Chuchuliga–Navrongo route. The Minister also reviewed progress on the partial reconstruction of the Navrongo–Chuchuliga–Sandema Road.

In addition to road works, Hon. Agbodza inspected the construction of bridges over the Kanyibie and Bechelihu rivers, which are expected to improve year-round access for communities and reduce travel disruptions during the rainy season.

The “Big Push” initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance transportation infrastructure and support regional development, particularly in underserved areas.

Hon. Agbodza reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring timely completion of the projects, emphasizing their importance in facilitating trade, improving mobility, and enhancing the livelihoods of residents in the northern parts of the country.
