A World Bank-supported initiative in Ghana has exceeded its job creation goal by more than twofold, while boosting sales for local firms, according to project data.
The Ghana Economic Transformation Project (GETP) has generated 2,438 direct jobs, surpassing its 1,000-job target. Of those, 1,071 jobs went to women, the report shows.
Firms receiving support under the project reported an average 18% increase in gross sales.
Women-owned businesses also saw gains, with a 12.68% rise in sales, reflecting improved productivity and growth.
The figures highlight the project’s role in expanding economic opportunities and strengthening private sector performance in Ghana.
The World Bank said the results reflect gains in both job creation and business growth across supported firms.
The GETP is part of broader efforts to drive economic transformation and job creation in Ghana’s private sector.
