At the 7th Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GhIPCon 2026), GOIL’s Group CEO and Managing Director, Edward Abambire Bawa, participated in a key panel discussion on “Local Content and Industrial Participation in Downstream Growth.”

During the session, Mr. Bawa emphasized the vital role of knowledge and technology transfer in building local capacity, boosting competitiveness, and accelerating indigenous participation in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector. He acknowledged that while local engagement is steadily increasing, addressing challenges related to capital costs and tenure is crucial for enabling indigenous businesses to invest, grow sustainably, and compete effectively.

GOIL reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies, partnerships, and investments that enhance local content, foster innovation, and contribute to a more resilient and competitive downstream industry.
GOIL continues to champion the development of local talent and enterprise, aligning with the broader goal of advancing Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
