Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Development σEric Afful has announced the official launch of the 2025 Annual Progress Report (APR) prepared by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).
The report, launched 16 July 2026 , marks an important step in Ghana’s national accountability and development efforts, and the Chairman underscores Parliament’s commitment to transparent governance under current regime.
During a press briefing in Parliament Mr. Afful emphasized that the APR provides a comprehensive assessment of how government agencies, ministries, and local authorities have implemented policies and utilized public resources over the review period.
According to him, the committee will use the findings to engage relevant institutions on their performance, achievements, and challenges, with a focus on improving service delivery.
He urged all government bodies within the committee’s mandate to cooperate fully, noting that participation is a constitutional responsibility.
He stressed that institutions should come prepared with accurate and verifiable information, reflecting their stewardship of public funds.
The briefing highlighted the government’s Resetting Agenda, which emphasizes transparency, accountability, efficiency, and results-oriented governance. Afful reaffirmed that the review process aims to strengthen public sector performance, promote learning, and support evidence-based decision-making, ultimately contributing to sustainable national development.
He concluded by appreciating the NDPC for preparing the report and called on civil society, development partners, and the media to support this vital exercise in promoting transparency and good governance across Ghana.
Adding his voice, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, The Ranking Member on Committee promised Ghanaians fair hearing in line with the commuttes’ mandates provided for in the Standing Orders and also in accordance with Speakers’ commitment to good governance and prudence management of State funds.
