The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has published a fresh list of 20 mobile loan applications operating in the country without licence or authorization.

The publication, contained in Notice No. BG/GOV/SEC/29 dated September 8, 2026, is a follow-up to an earlier notice No. BG/GOV/SEC/2026/22 on Unlicensed Digital Credit Service Providers (DCSPs).

According to the central bank, the move is part of ongoing efforts to sanitise the digital credit space and protect the public from entities providing digital credit services in contravention of the Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers in Ghana (September 2025).

The BoG said the following loan apps are operating without the requisite licence:

Cascredit, Cash Future, Cash Cedi, Cashpal, Cashpal Pro, CreditGo, Funds Credit, Glow Credit, Moni Wave and MoniLend.

The rest are: Nova Cedi, Onua Loan, Quick Cedi, Sika Boost, Sika Credit, Sompa Loan, Sune Credit, l Swift Lend, Target Credit and Zoom Advance.

The Bank reiterated that the operations of these entities constitute significant violations of customer data privacy, consumer protection, and established regulatory standards.

The central bank said it will continue to collaborate with relevant state institutions to identify, investigate, and take appropriate enforcement action against such entities to safeguard consumers and uphold the integrity, safety and stability of the financial sector.

The notice signed by the Secretary of the Bank, Aimee Vyda Quashie

strongly advised the general public not to engage with unlicensed loan providers.

Banks, Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions (SDIs) and Payment Service Providers (PSPs) have also been cautioned against facilitating or processing transactions on behalf of unlicensed loan providers.

The BoG encouraged members of the public who become aware of the activities of unlicensed loan providers to report them to the Fintech and Innovation Department of the Bank of Ghana at The Bank Square, Ridge, Accra, on Tel: 030 273 9650 or via email at fintech@bog.gov.gh / digitalcredit@bog.gov.gh.
