The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has launched its annual week-long Staff Welfare Celebration with a series of activities aimed at promoting staff well-being, entrepreneurship, teamwork and togetherness.
The 2026 celebration is under the theme: “Our People, Our Teamwork and the Spirit That Makes NPA One Family.”
The official launch took place on Monday, 28 September 2026, at the forecourt of the Authority alongside a breakfast meeting, to usher in the week-long activities. The event was graced by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Richard Gyan Mensah (MP), as Special Guest of Honour.
Addressing staff, the Chief Executive of the NPA, Lawyer Godwin Kudzo Tameklo., commended management and staff for their hard work, dedication and commitment to the Authority. He reaffirmed management’s commitment to addressing staff welfare concerns and creating an enabling environment for employees to thrive.
Mr. Tameklo highlighted several recent management interventions aimed at improving staff welfare, including the introduction of responsibility and professional allowances, the increment of travelling allowances, the extension of paternity leave days, among other initiatives.
The Deputy Minister, Hon. Richard Gyan Mensah, also stressed the importance of prioritising staff welfare, noting that a motivated, healthy and respected workforce is essential to institutional effectiveness.
“The NPA plays a pivotal role in Ghana’s energy sector and, for this reason, staff welfare must never be regarded as an afterthought. A motivated, healthy and respected workforce is fundamental to institutional effectiveness.”, he emphasized.
The outgoing Chairman of the Welfare Committee, Mr. Ernest Ayeh Darteh also emphasised the critical role of staff in the success and growth of the Authority.
As part of the celebration, the NPA commissioned two 20,000-litre-capacity boreholes in the Eastern Region, at Mangoase and Tinkong, as part of the Authority’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
The week-long programme will continue with an Entrepreneurial Fair for staff on Tuesday, a Sustainable Waste Management Workshop on Wednesday, and a Quiz Competition involving Directorates and Regional Offices. The celebration will culminate in a Wrap-Up Party on Friday, bringing the 2026 Staff Welfare Week to a close.
The celebration underscores the NPA’s commitment to building a workplace where staff welfare, collaboration, innovation and a strong sense of family remain central to organisational success.
