Swiss Ambassador to Ghana explores opportunities for deeper collaboration on governance and anti-corruption efforts

Her Excellency Simone Giger, the Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, paid a courtesy visit to the Presidency to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular focus on decentralization and local governance. The delegation expressed keen interest in supporting Ghana’s efforts to enhance its governance framework and cited their intention to assist the country’s Constitutional Review Committee.

During the meeting, the Swiss delegation proposed institutionalizing the Constitutional Review Committee as a permanent body to ensure ongoing development and refinement of Ghana’s legal and governance systems. They reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s fight against corruption, emphasizing their willingness to collaborate closely in this area.

 

Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, welcomed the Swiss support and reiterated Ghana’s openness to partnership. He emphasized the country’s progress towards establishing a decentralized governance structure and creating an enabling environment for business. Debrah highlighted Ghana’s reputation as a safe and profitable destination for investment, encouraging the Swiss community to explore the thriving business climate and seize opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships.

This engagement marks a significant step in strengthening Ghana-Switzerland relations, with a shared commitment to good governance, anti-corruption initiatives, and economic development.
