The planned commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of Ninth Parliament of the fourth republic has been postponed until further notice by the Speaker, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
A press statement from the Speaker’s Office, dated October 6, 2025, attributed the decision to “circumstances beyond my control.” The notice, personally signed by Speaker Bagbin, provided no new date for Parliament’s reconvening.
This development follows an earlier summons issued on September 29, 2025, calling Members of Parliament to resume sittings on 14 October 2025 in Accra. With the deferral, all planned activities for the Third Meeting stand suspended until further notice.
The indefinite postponement has stirred uncertainty among lawmakers, political analysts, and the public, given the pressing legislative agenda awaiting the House. The Speaker’s brief explanation has also left room for speculation, as no further details have been released.
