The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has held a strategic meeting with key stakeholders and executives of the 24-hour Economy Secretariat to kick off collaborative efforts for the upcoming Night Economy Pilot Project scheduled for December in the Osu enclave.
This initiative is part of the broader implementation of the 24-hour Economy Initiative within the Petroleum Downstream Industry.
The meeting, which brought together representatives from Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), the 24-hour Economy Secretariat, and NPA staff, focused on laying the groundwork for the pilot’s successful execution.
It aims to test the practical aspects of operating within a 24-hour economy in the petroleum downstream sector before scaling the initiative nationwide.
In his remarks, Lawyer Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Chief Executive of the NPA and chairman of the meeting, emphasized that security would be a top priority throughout the pilot project. He highlighted the importance of close collaboration with the Ghana Police Service to ensure safety, operational efficiency, and to address potential challenges associated with supporting a 24-hour economy.
The pilot in Osu is expected to serve as a critical test case, providing practical insights that will inform broader rollout plans for the initiative across the country’s petroleum downstream industry.
