On behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor has inaugurated the Board of Nuclear Power Ghana, marking a important step toward realizing Ghana’s long-standing ambition to harness nuclear energy for electricity generation.
In his address at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister emphasized the importance of this new board in breaking new ground, accelerating progress, and delivering on the nation’s objective to incorporate nuclear energy into Ghana’s energy mix.
According to him, “since the era of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana has aspired to develop nuclear power as a means to ensure a reliable and sustainable energy future. Despite decades of effort, this vision has yet to be fully realized. However, global experience demonstrates that nuclear power remains one of the most dependable pathways for countries seeking sustained growth through stable, affordable base-load energy”.
The newly appointed members of the Board of Nuclear Power Ghana include: Emmanuel Appiah-Korang (Chairman), Ing. Samuel Boakye Dampare, Ing. Edward Obeng-Kenzo, Bernard Kofi Ellis, Benedict Kofi Wompeh and Nana Akyaa Amoah-Amissah
This development signals Ghana’s renewed commitment to diversifying its energy sources and ensuring a stable power supply to fuel national development and economic growth.
