The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has advised its student wing, (Tertiary Students Confederacy) TESCON, to focus on recruiting and maintaining party members on campus and to embrace the party’s center-right ideologies.
The Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah emphasized this during a meeting with the Minority Caucus in Parliament. He encouraged the youth to commit to their work and not be deterred by criticism of the party’s capitalist philosophies.
“The second thing is that our party is a center-right party. And all successful countries have progressed when center-right parties are in office,” Mensah said. He cited examples of successful capitalist countries, including China and India, and urged the youth not to be swayed by socialist ideologies.
Hon Mensah also highlighted opportunities available to young people within the NPP, citing his own experiences and those of other young NPP leaders. “Just shine in your corner… and in the NPP, we will promote you and give you the opportunity to also shine,” he said.
