The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Principal of the Nurses and Midwifery Training College in Nalerugu. This decisive action follows an inspection during the Minister’s working visit to the Upper East, North-East, and Northern Regions, where he conducted assessments of health facilities and training institutions.
Prior to the suspension, the Ministry was briefed about concerns regarding unauthorized admissions at the Nalerugu college. Upon visiting the institution, the Minister was briefed on preliminary findings and promptly directed the suspension of the College’s Principal pending further investigations.
In a stern warning, Minister Akandoh emphasized that strict adherence to established admission protocols is non-negotiable. He stated that any institution head found engaging in unauthorized practices would face stringent sanctions. The Minister also reaffirmed the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and maintaining high standards across all health training institutions in Ghana.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing, with authorities committed to ensuring that standards and regulations are upheld in all educational and health training facilities.
