The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, Esq., has assured the Ghana National Petroleum Tankers Drivers Union (GNPTDU) of his commitment to ensuring that their working conditions and welfare are resolved.
He made these comments during an emergency meeting with members of the GNPTDU earlier today.
The meeting follows series of strike actions by the Union which have now been suspended, due to the deplorable conditions of the Tema Oil Refinery-Kpone Road, as well as the deteriorating state of the BOST yard where they park their trucks, among other issues.
Issues raised during the meeting included concerns about the TOR road, oil loss control, allowance for drivers who drive long hours on rough roads, among other pressing matters.
Addressing their concerns, Mr. Tameklo said the Authority would do its best to get to the bottom of the issues raised and find solutions to them.
On their part, the National Chairman of the GNPTDU, Mr. George Nyaunu, apologised on behalf of the union for not notifying the NPA of their strike action ahead of time and thanked the NPA Boss for accepting their offer for a meeting and listening to their concerns.
