The Parliamentary Committee on Energy has paid a scheduled monitoring and working visit to the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) to familiarise itself with the refinery’s operations, ongoing revival efforts and future plans.
The visit, held on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, provided Members of the Committee with an opportunity to engage Management on key areas including refinery operations, health and safety, planned expansion initiatives and measures being undertaken to strengthen Ghana’s energy security.
The delegation was received by Management, led by the Managing Director of TOR, Edmond Kombat, who briefed the Committee on the refinery’s recent milestones and ongoing efforts to restore and strengthen its operations.
Among the key developments highlighted was the refurbishment and commissioning of the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) by the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, marking a significant milestone in TOR’s ongoing revival and return to full-scale operations.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for the Committee to gain first-hand insight into the refinery’s operational capabilities, challenges and strategic plans for the future.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Emmanuel Bedzrah, commended the Managing Director and the entire Management team for what he described as their visionary and transformational efforts in reviving the refinery.
He assured Management of the Committee’s continued support and collaboration as TOR works towards strengthening its operations and contributing to Ghana’s energy security.
The visit reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between TOR, Parliament and other key national stakeholders in supporting the refinery’s sustainable growth and long-term strategic role in Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.
TOR remains committed to working closely with Parliament and all relevant stakeholders to strengthen its operations, create value and contribute meaningfully to the country’s energy security.
