Operation Recover All Loot: Key Court Cases scheduled for May 18-22

Several high-profile cases under the government’s “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL) initiative are scheduled for hearings in Accra courts this week, from May 18 to 22.

 

The week’s docket covers cases linked to the National Service scheme, mining in forest reserves, cybersecurity software procurement, and loan and stock buffer stock matters.

 

Monday, May 18

– 8:30 a.m., Criminal Court 4: Republic v Gifty Oware Mensah (National Service case). Examination-in-chief of the 1st prosecution witness.

– 10:00 a.m., Criminal Court 1: Republic v Akonta Mining & 3 Ors (Nimiri Forest Reserve mining case). Cross-examination of the 1st prosecution witness.

– 2:00 p.m., High Court: Republic v Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi & 2 Ors (Exim Bank loan case). Arraignment.

– 3:00 p.m., High Court: Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba & Anor (Buffer Stock case). Arraignment.

Tuesday, May 19

– 9:00 a.m., Supreme Court: Republic v Gifty Oware Mensah (National Service case). Hearing of stay application.

– 10:00 a.m., Criminal Court 4: Republic v Asamoah & Anor (Skytrain case). Cross-examination of the 3rd prosecution witness.

– 10:00 a.m., Criminal Court 1: Republic v Akonta Mining & 3 Ors (Nimiri Forest Reserve mining case). Cross-examination of the 1st prosecution witness.

– 2:00 p.m., Criminal Court 4: Republic v Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi & 2 Ors (Samreboi illegal mining case). Cross-examination of the 2nd defence witness.

 

Wednesday, May 20

– 8:30 a.m., Criminal Court 4: Republic v Gifty Oware Mensah (National Service case). Cross-examination of the 1st prosecution witness.

– 10:00 a.m., Specialized Court 1: Republic v Kwabena Adu Boahene & 2 Ors (Cybersecurity software scandal). Cross-examination of the 3rd prosecution witness.

– 10:00 a.m., Criminal Court 1: Republic v Akonta Mining & 3 Ors (Nimiri Forest Reserve mining case). Cross-examination of the 1st prosecution witness.

– 2:00 p.m., Criminal Court 4: Republic v Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi & 2 Ors (Samreboi illegal mining case). Cross-examination of the defence witness.

 

Thursday, May 21

Operation Recover All Loot is the government’s initiative to investigate and prosecute alleged financial malfeasance and recover state funds.
