Having been severely hit by the recent downpours in the country, and Accra in particular, two women residents at Mayera near Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region, have forcibly been compelled to turn contractors, mending their road, which has badly been affected by the down-pours.
The two, Medams Getrude Ankamah Ampansah, Manageress of Getty Cute Designs and Florence Amponsah all resident at Mayera Adusa Quaters Transformer, have thus taken it upon themselves to mend the badly-hit road leading to their houses.

Subsequently, on Monday, June 8, 2026, after the protracted down-pour, which turned their road into mess, they had no alternative than to hire some men to help them mend the road, as there seemed to be no help forth coming from any quarters.
As such in the spirit of “can do” and Brighten the corner where you are”, the two “women contractors” set to work on their badly damaged road the entire day end beyond.
They maintained that since help was not immediately forth coming, they would not look on, throw their hands in despair, but would rather take the bull by the horn and do their best to save the situation in the interim.

The self-turned women contractors, were however quick to appeal to the concerned authorities there, especially the Ga West Municipal Assembly and Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon… to quickly come not only to their aid but also that of residents of the area in general. According to the women contractors, their efforts were not strong enough to curtail the mess.
“We need a stronger and a more resilient power to arrest this canker!” they stressed.
